The Croesus 4 showing is located about 30 kilometres east-northeast of Stewart, immediately north of the toe of Del Norte Glacier.
The area is underlain by Hazelton Group rocks. The hostrocks may be north-striking argillites of the Middle Jurassic Salmon River Formation (Bulletin 63) or massive flows of the Lower Jurassic Betty Creek Formation (Assessment Reports 17660, 21535). Northeast, north to north-northwest and east-northeast trending faults are locally conspicuous (Assessment Report 21535).
Few details are available regarding the showing. The showing consists of a 15 centimetre wide quartz vein. A grab sample collected in 1990 from the vein assayed 4.24 per cent zinc, 1.0 gram per tonne gold and 20.8 grams per tonne silver; copper and lead values are negligible (Sample DNMBR-012, Assessment Report 21535).
Another zone of mineralization, referred to as the Crackle zone, is located several hundred metres northwest of the Croesus 4 occurrence and comprises a network of quartz stringers/veins (approximately six per 3-metre section and 1 to 15 centimetres wide) hosted in a series of red-coloured, resistive knobs of Betty Creek Formation rocks over an area of approximately 50 by 100 metres. The stringer/veins host medium- to coarse-grained chalcopyrite and pyrite with lesser magnetite and arsenopyrite.
Work History
In 1987, Teuton Resources Corp. staked the Croesus 1-4 claims over the area and conducted geological mapping and rock and silt sampling. No work was reported on the showing. In 1989, Goodgold Resources Ltd. entered into an option agreement with Teuton and flew a heli-borne VLF-EM and magnetometer survey over the Croesus and adjacent Bond claims. In 1990, Goodgold conducted reconnaissance geological mapping, prospecting and rock and silt sampling on the property. The showing was reported on the Croesus 4 claim at that time.
In 2005, a helicopter-borne AeroTEM II electromagnetic and magnetic survey was carried out on behalf of Teuton Resources Corp. over the Del Norte-Midas property and a total of 1299.5 line-kilometres was flown.
During 2017 through 2019, Teuton Resources completed programs of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, an airborne geophysical (ZTEM and magnetic) survey and four diamond drillholes on the Del Norte property.
